STRIATIONS: A Sonic and Visual Journey
“ A world of colour, angles, lines, vision, sounds and striations. A world that is so easy to ignore but a world that has so much to explore. This is our take on a world at a particular time with vision, music, technology, instruments, poetry and dialogue that is above our understanding”
Performed and composed by duo, Stevon and the Well Wishers (Stevon Russell and Richard J Norris) the music reverberates with the colours of the landscape, capturing the rhythmic pulse of our planet. The accompanying visuals, curated by the creative minds of Mark Amura and George Moustakas from The Saturday Museum, draw from the rich archives of the geology department at Stockholm University, showcasing breathtaking images that leap off the screen. AUDIENCE REACTIONS
“We were drawn in by the striations of the music - one minute we were gently rocking along in a beautiful ambient melody, the next we were being thrown around by the waves. It was an exciting journey” - Vortex Jazz Club, London
“You took our passion and turned it into yours. We love it” - Stockholm University
“The beauty of the nature of this piece, is flexibility. It' is equally at home in a bar as it is in the front room of someone’s house - quite literally". A brilliant evening had by all, thank you” - London House Gig
STRIATED CHAPTERS INCLUDE
Superterreneans
We walk on a thin crust that covers the secrets that lie beneath. We can only dream what lies beneath, but dream we must.
Broken Spaces
The world is cracking, breaking in front of our eyes. We know where we walk but we don't follow the path.
Things Change
We know what we've had and we know what we want but we don't always know how to got from here to there. We consider, take action and develop. Just as things change so must we. We must consider, take action and develop.
Enjoy, Destroy
The world has developed to a point beyond recognition. We have the ability to enjoy its natural beauty yet, too often, we abuse that enjoyment in the nature of destruction. The destruction of nature.
The Biggest Rock
We're all searching for the biggest rock. Sometimes it's in the last place we'd expect it, lying right under our feet.
Life’s Big Alarm Clock
Life's clock is ticking. Time is moving. We must wind the spring and move with it.
Impact Diamond
They draw us in, they shine on us, they reflect. They display thousands, if not millions, of years. Every detail, every life, every time hidden within.
