A live collaboration of folk, electronic and minimalist music with film and guest artists
Somewhere in the Middle is a curated evening of adventurous live music and film, bringing folk, minimalism and electronic/classical music together in one distinctive bill.
The night features three contrasting but complementary performances:
Alkevan – a folk-songwriter collective expanding into new territory, blending close vocal harmonies, violin, flute and rhythmic textures.
Nick Allen (Modulus Quartet) – performing a striking new version of Steve Reich’s Cello Counterpoint, playing live alongside seven pre-recorded versions of himself, accompanied by bespoke video.
Richard J Norris – presenting new material from his electronic/classical project Sensoria, reimagined through live collaboration with the other musicians on the bill.
All performances are accompanied by original video by Diego Barazza, creating a cohesive audio-visual experience designed to work equally well in intimate venues and festival settings.
“Spectacularly collaborative; all for one and one for all!
It touched my heart; the music opens something inside you
Utterly brilliant!
The collaborative variety and mix of music styles was just amazing
‘Concentrating’ in a good way
Not what I was expecting- and I was blown away by it!
I want to hear more! The songs were great.
The violin and cello just gives it a real distinction”
“Such a good strong sound
Highly recommend it
It allows those of us who don’t experience art and music to begin to appreciate it
The evening went in the blink of an eye. I could have listened to this all night.
Brilliant: the whole thing was ace!
Sound was brilliant and such a fabulous venue: you really felt part of the experience.
We loved it: where can we see you again?”
